NCR Regional Advocacy Forum on Inclusive Education

 

TTG and Inclusion Initiative in partnership with the City of Mandaluyong and UNICEF Philippines held the LGU Regional Advocacy Forum on Inclusive Education last June 29, 2018 for the LGU members in NCR to gain proper understanding of the basics of inclusive education and for LGUs to create action plans that support inclusion and to improve its policies and projects for the needs of diverse of learners and their respective communities.

 

TTG Guesting at DZMM radio program ‘Good Vibes’

 

The Teacher’s Gallery was invited as a guest speaker at DZMM radio program, “Good Vibes” hosted by Ms. Niña Corpuz and Mr. Mark Leviste. TTG Executive Director Ms. Mai Roble with Teacher Anna Viudez of President Corazon Elementary School shared stories of inclusion programs and successful initiatives on inclusive education to enlighten and encourage radio listeners to also practice inclusion.

 

Brigada Eskwela in Commonwealth Elementary School

 

The Teacher’s Gallery and Philippine Network for Inclusive Education turned over materials for the Brigada Eskwela in Commonwealth Elementary School last May 26, 2018.

We captured the essence of community’s collective responsibility in ensuring that the school of our learners are appropriate and accommodating. It was a success!

Featuring the IE Learning Portal during DepEd Supervisors Training in Davao City

Inclusion Initiative, in partnership with UNICEF and The Teacher’s Gallery, featured the Inclusive Education Learning Portal during the DepEd Regional and District Supervisors Training on the Roll-Out of Inclusive Education at Royal Mandaya Hotel, Davao City.

As part of the roll-out of inclusive education, the supervisors highlighted the need of having a resource center to support teachers in the implementation of the program.

 

Mindoro LGU Advocacy Forum on Inclusive Education

 

The Teacher’s Gallery and Inclusion Initiative, in partnership with the Municipality of Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro, UNICEF Philippines, and NCDA hosted the Mindoro LGU Advocacy Forum on Inclusive Education.

This event aims to enlighten LGU members and officials in Mindoro on the real concept of inclusion and inclusive education as well as its benefits to raise the participation of all in the community. In this forum, the participants have also created action plans which they will start working on when they go back to their respective municipalities.

 

Meeting with Mayor Menchie Abalos regarding the NCR LGU Advocacy Forum on Inclusive Education

Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos has accepted the offer to be an official partner of Inclusion Initiative and The Teacher’s Gallery in hosting the NCR LGU Advocacy Forum on Inclusive Education on June 2018.

We gathered representatives from various sectors to make sure that our program will cater efficiently to the audience and the sectors of Inclusive Education!

ISIE Part 2 – 1st Planning Session – Organizing Members

 

Quezon City Vice Mayor, Joy Belmonte, hosted the 1st Planning Session of Part 2 of the International Summit in Inclusive Education on November 27 to 29, 2017 at the AFP Officers’ Club House at Camp Aguinaldo. The attendees were representatives from DLS-College of Saint Benilde Center for Inclusive Education, Australia’s Department of Foreign Trade and Affairs’ Basic Education Sectoral Transformation (BEST), Norfil Foundation, ATRIEV (Adaptive Technology for Rehabilitation, Integration and Empowerment of the Visually Impaired), Tahanan ng Walang Hagdan, AKAP-Pinoy, UP College of Education, DepEd’s Office of the Secretary, IDEA (Inclusive Development and Empowerment Agenda) and Inclusion Initiative.

One of the keynote speakers of the International Leadership Summit on Inclusive Education – Part 2, Dr. Frances Stetson, together with UP College of Education Professor, Dr. Frances Magtoto appeared live at ANC Dateline to promote the said event.

Dr. Frances Stetson is the President of Stetson & Associates, Inc. in the US – the organization that has revolved around and improved the quality of inclusive schools for all students for over 24-year history and the author of the 1st Report to Congress regarding the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).

BKP and TTG at DWIZ AM Radio

 

Bagong Kulturang Pinoy, Inc. – BKP Director Ms. Alice Quilicot with TTG Communications Ms. Alyanna Tamayo at DWIZ 882 AM Station talking about the Goals of Bagong Kulturang Pinoy which helps children enjoy the culture of reading by giving books and helping communities including remote areas in building mini-libraries.

TTG’s partnership with BKP is to help them facilitate and monitor the programs implemented in the communities with mini-libraries by TTG Power Club Members who can also request their own mini-libraries for a community they want to represent!

TTG Executive Director Mai Roble and Center for Possibilities Founder Dolores Cheng in PWD Hour PH Radyo ng Bayan 738 to promote the upcoming International Leadership Summit on Inclusive Education (February 22 to 24 at SMX Manila) where the documentary “Yakap” will be screened. Yakap follows the lives of three families of children with special needs.

The program is hosted by Mr. Arpee Lazaro and Mr. Edsel Lorete.

First IE Summit Storytellers live at DZMM Teleradyo

 

Our summit storytellers, Mr. Erick Marco Ramos and Ms. Sarah Jane Dela Rosa, were live on air at DZMM Teleradyo segment “Todo-Todo, Walang Preno” hosted by Mr. Ariel Ureta and Ms. Winnie Cordero.

They have shared how inclusion in regular classroom setup positively affected their lives and hope that this will be a widely accepted program structure in the country instead of confining children with disabilities to SPED centers.
