Santa Clara Unified School District Partner Visits PH Schools

The Teacher’s Gallery partners from Santa Clara Schools District in California, USA went to the Philippines and visited the schools of some school leaders who participated in TTG’s Global Learning Initiative or EdTour Program. The visiting group was headed by Ms. Rose DuMond, Special Education Coordinator of Santa Clara Unified Schools District.

Ricardo P. Cruz Elementary School – Taguig City

Last July 3, The Teacher’s Gallery together with Ms. Rose DuMond and Ms. Joycelyn Flores, visited Dr. JR Bisco, principal of Ricardo P. Cruz Elementary School in Taguig. Dr. Bisco was one of the delegates of the TTG Global Learning Initiative in California last October 2018.

Several cultural perfomances were showcased by the talented students of Ricardo P. Cruz Elementary School to entertain the visitors from Santa Clara Unified Schools District, USA.

During the visit, Dr. Bisco proudly shared the accomplishments of the school as well as the programs he adopted from the learning experience he had from the EdTour program.

Precious Gem Academy – Quezon City

The group also visited Precious Gem Academy, a school in Quezon City which offers inclusion programs and transition programs for learners with disabilities. The highlight of the visit is the PGA Learning Resource Center which provides a pre-vocational and transition program to independent living for young adults with disabilities.

Center for Excellence (CENTEX) Elementary School – Manila City

Last July 10, Ms. Rose DuMond together with Ms. Edna See-Pornel, teacher from Briarwood Elementary School in Santa Clara Unified School District, visited Center for Excellence (CENTEX) Elementary School headed by Dr. Rey Malano, delegate of TTG Global Learning Initiative last April 2019.

Our partners from Santa Clara Unified Schools District (SCUSD) in California, USA were so impressed how these school leaders were able to apply what they have learned and experienced during their benchmarking activities as part of TTG Global EdTour Program.

TTG’s non-profit arm – Inclusion Initiative, presented at the League of Corporate Foundation (LCF) CSR Expo 2019 last July 4, 2019 held at the Philippine International Convention Center. The theme for this year’s expo is “Toward Collective Impact: Collaborations that Work”.

Our inclusion champions, Dr. Serry Vargas and Ms. Sarah Jane Dela Rosa pitched our program in empowering educators in building inclusive communities.

Inclusion Initiative (also known as IAMYOU), together with The Teacher’s Gallery, hopes to continue its efforts in providing learning opportunities to educators in handling students with disabilities in a regular classroom through its Inclusive Education Mentorship Program.

5th TTG Global EdTour – Cohort B is now open!

The Teacher’s Gallery is inviting all Filipino educators to join the upcoming 5th Filipino Educators’ Global Learning Initiative in California, USA this October 20 – 29, 2019. This EdTour program aims to provide a platform for educators to benchmark and learn new ideas and models that they can use to improve their own classroom setting. 

This 10-day Global EdTour program includes school visits within the Santa Clara Unified School District and a 4-day West Coast Cultural Tour.

This program is exclusively offered to TTG Power Club members.

Itinerary:

Day 1: Travel to San Francisco, California

Day 2: Silicon Valley and Factory Outlet Shopping

Day 3 – 5: School Visits

Day 6 – 9: West Coast Cultural R&R

Day 10: Travel back to Manila

Application Procedures:
  1. Power Club Membership.
  2. Submit the following to travel@theteachersgallery.com:
    • accomplished Return Entry Action Plan proposal
    • recommendation letter from immediate supevisor
    • scanned copy of faculty ID, passport and visa (if applicable)
  3. Upon approval of proposal, pay the reservation fee of 500 USD and send the accomplished DS-160 form.
  4. Prepare visa application requirements.
  5. Pay B1/B2 visa fee of PHP 8,640 (or more depending on exchange rate) to any BPI branch.
  6. Attend the visa coaching orientation by The Teacher’s Gallery.
  7. Be present during the embassy interview.
  8. Upon visa approval, pay the required EdTour program participation fee.
    • Note: For DepEd employees: Submit a copy of approved travel permit from DepEd Central Office
  9. Attend the pre-travel orientation covering the US immigration interview, detailed itinerary, dress code, and items to bring.

The Teacher’s Gallery partnered with Precious Gem Academy Learning Resource Center to support its LifeBridge Program. This program aims to enable young adults with disabilities to make a successful transition to an independent and meaningful life in adulthood.

The goal of LifeBridge Program is to enable young adults with disabilities make a successful transition to an independent and meaningful life in adulthood. LifeBridge Program adopts a ‘naturalistic’ model for a curriculum where content and instruction is based on the unique needs and lifestyle of the learner, family, and community and implemented in the natural environment.

TTG at DZMM Teleradyo Program, ‘SAKTO’

Last May 30, The Teacher’s Gallery was invited by DZMM Teleradyo program ‘SAKTO’ for their segment discussing about the definition of ‘Learners with Disability’ and how to make them ready for the big school. Program hosts, Mr. Randy Santiago and Ms. Amy Perez, asked for helpful tips for parents of children with disabilities on how they can recognize and provide the special learning needs of their children so that they can also excel in school.

Together with Ms. Mai Roble is Ms. Michelle Sevilla, a public school teacher from Lagro Elementary School in Quezon City.

Teacher Michelle emphasized the importance of awareness and acceptance of all people surrounding the child with disability for them to achieve their full potential.
