Spend your school semestral break this October in the US by joining TTG Global EdTour Program – West Coast Cohort. This is packed by exclusive school visits and training workshop hosted by top rated inclusive education and disability experts – Stetson & Associates. Complete your experience by getting a chance to roam around the famous sights and wonders in California.

Day 1 - Travel to Texas

Meet at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) then depart for Texas.

Day 2 - Discover the 'Lone Star'

Enjoy the sights and experience in Texas. From its famed barbeque pits to legendary dance halls. Modern Texas boasts so much more to discover.

Day 3 - Learn from Houston Independent Schools District

The Houston Independent Schools District is the largest public school system in Texas, and the seventh-largest in the United States. It is committed to equity, closing the achievement gap, meeting the needs of the whole child, personalizing learning from each indvidual child, creating safe, joyful learning spaces, retaining qualified and effective personnel, operating with transparency across all departments, and engaging meaningfully with the community in all major decision-making.

Day 4 to 5 - Inclusive Education Training-Workshop

Enrich yourself with learnings from the experts on disability and inclusive education – Stetson and Associates, headed by Dr. Frances Stetson.

Dr. Frances Stetson authored the first report to the Congress regarding the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in the United States.

Stetson and Associates has a 30-year history in providing strategic planning and evaluation services, high-impact professional learning, on-site coaching and technical assistance to thousands of school districts, state department of education, and universities throughout the United States and to several foreign countries.

Day 6 - Los Angeles, California

Experience Hollywood Behind-the-Scenes tour. It is a world renowned experience that connects you with the Hollywood you imagine. Visit movie locations that starred A-List Celebrities like Julia Roberts, Keanu Reeves, and Sandra Bullock and many more). Visit the Hollywood sign, and celebrities’ favorite hidden hideaways.

Day 7 - Los Angeles - Solvang - San Francisco

Start the morning with the Danish Village along California Golden Pacific Coast. Upon arrival, have a drink of a gourmet European coffee and a Danish cookie. After lunch, head towards the Silicon Valley and visit the Apple Park. Spend the night in San Francisco.

Day 8 - San Francisco - Berkeley - Modesto

In the morning, have an Extensive City Tour: visit the Cable Car, Lombard Street, City Hall, and St. Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco. Then, stop by the Fisherman’s Wharf – take a San Francisco Bay Cruise. After that, visit Palace of Fine Arts and the Famous Golden Gate Bridge. After the Extensive San Francisco Tour, see the University of California in Berkeley. It is considered as one of the top scientific schools in the world.

Day 9 - Modesto - Yosemite National Park - California Central Valley - Los Angeles

Spend the morning at the Yosemite National Park. Get a chance to see the Yosemite Falls, El Capitan, Tunnel View. After lunch, travel through the richest California Central Valley before heading back to Los Angeles.

Day 10 - Travel back to Manila

Last day of the TTG Global EdTour Program.

Day 1 - Travel to New York

Meet at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) then depart for New York.

Day 2 - Explore 'The Big Apple'

Bursting with an energy all its own, New York City provides a unique look into American life and culture. Seeing this famous metropolis is something no one forgets! Set foot at the famous Times Square, see the Empire State Building, and visit the New York Harbor Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty.

Day 3 - Leadership Development Course & School Visit

AM – Leadership Development Course: Effective Leadership

PM – School Visit

Day 4 - Leadership Development Course & School Visit

AM – Leadership Development Course: Collaborative Teachers

PM – School visit

Day 5 - Leadership Development Course & School Visit

Day 6 - New York - Philadelphia - Washington DC

Travel to Philadelphia to see Independence National Park, the location of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Take the Double Decker City Bus Tours to get spectacular views. Then continue to Washington DC to take some photos of the exteriors of the White House and visit the Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Korean War Memorial. Also have a glimpse of the Washington Monument, the World War II Memorial, and the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

Day 7 - Washington DC - Corning - Niagara Falls

Travel through the hilly countrysides of Pennsylvania and New York state while enjoying the rural scenery as we head north to visit the Corning Glass Museum. Continue to one of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world, the Niagara Falls and experience the Maid of the Mist (subject to season and weather).

Day 8 - Niagara Falls - Boston

Continue to explore the Niagara Falls through the Niagara In-depth Tour. Afterwards, head to Boston to spend the night.

Day 9 - Boston - New York

In the morning, start with exploring Cambridge and Boston, including Harvard University then pass by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). We will also take the Boston Harbor Cruise and have lunch at Quincy Market. You will also see the Old Trinity Cathedral, Hancock Building, Boston Athenaeum, Boston Park, Swan Lake Park, and the Golden Dome of the State House.

Day 10 - Travel back to Manila

Last day of the TTG Global EdTour Program.

Seminar on Inclusive Education for Pre-Service & In-Service Teachers in Iligan

The Teacher’s Gallery Programs Consultant and a Retired DepEd Supervisor, Dr. Serry Vargas, together with  Teacher Liza Duyao – TTG Programs Manager, started the year with providing a free seminar for Pre-Service and In-Service Teachers on inclusive education last January 13 – 14, 2020 at the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology in Iligan City.

This activity was made possible through the collaboration between The Teacher’s Gallery and the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) College of Education, headed by their College Dean, Dr. Amy Buan.

There were 306 Pre-Service Teachers from MSU-IIT College of Education and 63 In-Service Teachers from the different public schools in Iligan and faculty members of MSU-IIT that attended this 2-day Seminar Workshop. The theme for this program is Teaching With No Limits: An Introduction to Inclusive Education Focusing on Learners with Disabilities.

Topics discussed includes:

  • Legal bases of inclusive education
  • Concept of Disability and Impairment
  • Barriers to Inclusion
  • Classroom strategies in handling learners with disabilities 
  • Common indicators of learners with:
    • Autism
    • ADHD/ADD
    • Intellectual Disability
    • Learning Disability
    • Sensory Impairment: Hearing and Vision
    • Physical and Multiple Disabilities
    • Emotional and Behavioral Disorder
    • Speech and Language Impairment

Last January 15, the College of Education of the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology held its 15th Pinning and Moving Up Ceremony for its Pre-Service Teachers. Dr. Serry Vargas graced the event as the honorable guest speaker.

The Teacher’s Gallery and the College of Education of Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology is looking forward to a more strengthened partnership for its shared advocacy of empowering educators in promoting a quality and inclusive learning environment for the Filipino youth.

TTG Executive Director, Ms. Mai Roble, is now up for new and exciting learning adventures as #IskolarParaSaBayan sponsored by Australia Awards. Ms. Roble is one of the 37 Filipino scholars headed to Australia this January 2020 to pursue postgraduate studies in areas that are key to the Philippine development.

About Australia Awards Scholarship

Australia Awards are prestigious international scholarships funded by the Australian Government, offering the next generation of Filipino leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research, and professional development.

Australia Awards Scholarships gives current and future Filipino leaders fully-funded postgraduate education (master’s and PhD) at any of Australia’s world-class universities. This will equip Filipino leaders with the knowledge and skills to contribute to Philippine development through their re-entry action plans or REAP.
